Why 中文之友会 ?

It is frequently quoted that there are only around 130 fluent non-native speakers of Mandarin in Australia. While this figure seems to have come from only back-of-envelope calculations, for a country where Mandarin is the second most spoken language, this seems hardly acceptable.

What is clear from a survey of study options in Australia is that there are very limited options for those who have already acquired an intermediate level proficiency or above, particularly if they have developed oral fluency from having lived or studied in a Mandarin-speaking part of the world.

So, what if...

we could offer intermediate and advanced learners an opportunity to further develop their oral proficiency, so that they can continue to be ambassadors for the learning of Mandarin?
